Stop The Traffik have organised a Christmas Fayre where everything on sale is ethically sourced. It is located in Belfast, which is a bit further to go than we normally advertise here at Ballymena Today but we really wanted to share this even. And, when you thing about it Belfast is only 35 minutes down the road from our town.

The Traffik Free Christmas Fayre will be a magical evening of festive cheer with stalls from your favourite makers and bakers. With live music, warm drinks, fabulous prizes, this promises to be a wonderful night out.

If you would like to know more about buying with an ethical perspective then please click here to read more form the No More Traffik website. Here is an excerpt from the No More Traffik website which explains more about their organisation:

What you might not realise is that human trafficking happens here, in Northern Ireland. People are trafficked into, out of, and around “our wee country”.

It happens in cities like Belfast and Derry. It happens in towns like Portadown, Kilkeel and Bangor. And it happens in rural areas and farms, too.

Human trafficking could involve a young guy forced to cultivate cannabis in an average-looking house with no pay. Or someone forced to work on a fishing boat for weeks at a time, with no access to healthcare. A local girl driven from house to house and sold for sex by her so-called friends. An older man forced to work on an apple-picking farm, not paid enough to feed himself properly. A woman whose passport is taken, forced to sell her body for sex in a different brothel each week. Please put this date in your diary – it is the perfect way to start your Christmas shopping and find out more about No More Traffik at the same time.
