Gig n the Bann has released information about this years 5km Run / Fun Walk. The Run/ Fun Walk is in aid of the Northern Ireland Assistance Dogs (N.I.A.D). a local charity that does great work in our local community. The NIAD is dedicated to improving the quality of life for people who have a severe and unstable diabetes by training & placing efficient alert dogs. The Diabetes Alert Dog’s special status means that the dog can accompany their partner to work, university and elsewhere in their working lives and also socially to restaurants, shops, theatres etc.
NIAD is funded by donations, fund raising events and small grants from charitable trusts. All money goes into the program to pay for veterinary care, training and other essentials for the dogs. Find out more here.

This year Portglenone will be hosting the 18th Gig’n The Bann Music & Dance Festival It runs from 14th-17th Sep 2017 and celebrates cross-cultural music, song and dance on the banks of the River Bann.

Here are all the details from the Gig n the Bann Facebook Page.

Since this event started back in 2010 it has grown in popularity in the local community and beyond with last years entries topping 500 runners and walkers from all over Northern Ireland making it one of the largest 5km Run/Fun Walks in the country.

This has enabled us to raise approx £13,000 for local charities.
