Ballymena Rotary Club - Christmas Trees of Memories

Ballymena Rotary Club say,

‘This Christmas the Rotary Club of Ballymena, together with Macmillan Cancer Support and Good Morning Ballymena, is embarking on a new venture.

A number of Christmas trees will be located in the Tower Centre Mall from Friday, 14 December to Sunday, 23 December.  Members of the public will have the opportunity to remember a loved one by writing a short message onto a yellow ribbon.  This might be a message dedicated to a loved one who has passed away, a family member or friend who is living away from home, is ill or, for any other reason, is in their thoughts at this time of year.   All of the ribbons will be attached to the Christmas trees by volunteers from one of the 3 organisations and will remain on the trees for the duration of the display.  The trees will be manned all of the time by volunteers from the 3 organisations.

Suggested donations of £2 per ribbon will go towards Macmillan Cancer Support, Good Morning Ballymena and a variety of local charities supported by the Rotary Club.  Further information about these organisations and the people who benefit from their work may be found on the respective Facebook pages.

We hope you will join us in this poignant and dignified way of remembering someone who will not be sharing Christmas with us this year and, at the same time, support these worthy causes.  Hopefully, by Christmas, all of the trees will be covered with ribbons.’
