Yesterday’s Gone by Loyle Carner – Music Tuesday

My working day is always accompanied by music and I like to keep up to date with new music as much as possible. During January I listened to Yesterday’s Gone by Loyle Carner a lot. The Guardian have called it a ‘startling debut’ here. This record has bundles of warmth, a welcoming way to begin 2017. In a world of uncertainty and neagitive news, this collection of songs has made me smile often in January. The album artwork is a lovely nod towards the importance of family and community with it’s group photo and beaming smiles. This sense of...

Owen Denvir – Music Tuesday

This month at Ballymena Today we were delighted to hear that Owen Denvir has released a new single. Green Light was released this month and we have it playing on repeat. Owen Denvir – Music Tuesday Have a listen to it below. Here is all you need to know about our favourite new musician: Training as a young orchestral viola player, Owen Denvir was drawn by the alternative sound of Bon Iver over Bach. These two styles of music influence his songwriting, which Hot Press magazine have described as “honest, personal… complex and affecting”. Selected for the “Scratch My Progress” talent development scheme by the Oh Yeah centre in Belfast, Denvir was encouraged to be more public with the music he’d been developing since the age of 13, leading him to establish his signature guitar/viola combination set touring UK festivals and European cities. Already creating a notable social media buzz, Owen Denvir has been showcasing his ability as a performer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist through his viral series of triptych “3-in-1” live videos: interpretational mashups of famous songs using 1 viola, 2 guitars and 3-part harmonies in 3 recordings to make 1 video. Each video achieves between 20,000 – 100,000 views on Facebook after just a few days, and have been featured on American video blogs Metacafe & The Awesomer, news sites Independent.ie & Belfast Telegraph, and major Irish radio stations Cool...
