Foreword Time flies! The fragrance of the fresh mown grass suggests that summer beckons and it seems but a blink since September when, the touchlines new ruled, we began the journey of a new school year. The Bellfort is a record of the past year in the life of the school. Its lively pages reflect achievement and challenge, the in- evitable, the unexpected and sometimes the impossible! I con- gratulate the teaching and support staff, as well as our pupils, on another great year in this inclusive community. Dunclug College is a happy environment where the learning experience brings opportu- nity and security. This works only when staff are fully committed to the task, and par- ents and pupils engage positively with the experiences provided. The Bellfort reflects excellent progress across the subject areas as well as the thriving extra-curriculum – evi- dence of development educationally, personally, morally, socially and spiritually. It tells a story of entrepreneurial development, community links, and of pupils preparing for life in the global workplace. It tells of developing character, faith and values that will stand SUMMER 2014 the test of time. Time flies. Every year in school brings its own unique emphasis and it is a privilege to see our students grow and develop. I hope those who read the magazine will be inspired to make every day count, to make their school experiences a solid basis for life-long learn- ing and to build memories that will never fail to encourage and sustain, whatever the future holds! Ruth Wilson Principal The School Ethos Our purpose is to provide a high quality, child-centred education in a caring environment, built upon good personal relationships and genuine partnership. Through achievement and the development of mutual respect, all pupils are challenged and encouraged to fulfil their potential and become valued citizens. 5
