Ballymoney Road – Throwback Thursday

This week our throwback Thursday is this old photograph of Ballymoney Road in Ballymena. Looking towards the pentagon this picture show the old State cinema on the right (which we have written about here) and the trees planted outside the courthouse on the left. Although the State Cinema is now gone there are businesses such as the Adair Arms Hotel and Solicitors James Ballentine and Son still work in the buildings at the end of this road. Art in Ballymena

Ballymena celebrates art and artists in lots of unexpected places. Last week the Ballymena Central Library launched an art exhibition by Madeline Herbison. Madeline paints in acrylics and we love her use of bright and beautiful colours. Originally from Hampshire, she has lived in London and Cornwall before moving to a farm in Ballymena. She recently took up painting and is a regular visitor to Ballymena Library where she is a member of the Time Out reading group and the VIP group for people who are visually impaired. Click here to find out more about Madeline at her website....
