The Castle Players will be performing “Cupid wore Skirts” at the Braid in Ballymena. The Castle Players are a Ballymena based theatre company who are presenting “Cupid Wore Skirts”, an exciting production which is based on what happens after an Eligible Widower in his forties places an ad looking for love in the Belfast Telegraph. Cupid Wore Skirts is one of the most popular and most performed of all Sam Crea three act plays. The play is fast paced and hilarious with plots and sub-plots. They make beautiful sharp Lemon Curd which is made to order. Their Jellies make a welcome addition to any sandwich, scones, pancakes, or even as a filling for a sponge cake, while also giving extra flavour to cold or hot meats or depth to gravy. Chutneys are a traditional accompaniment to cheese & crusty bread, but don’t let tradition hold you back from trying new ideas!! At From Granny’s Pantry the team make every effort is made to remove all pips, seeds etc.some occasionally slip through the mesh. The can guarantee however that their products are made from natural ingredients, with no preservatives or additives. Only spirit vinegar/natural pectin used. Ballymena Butcher K & G McAtamney in Greenvale Street recently brought home a host of awards from the European Angus Steak Tasting Awards. They won these awards: 1st in Gourmet Steak Sausage 2nd traditional Beef Sausage 2nd Value Added Product 3rd in Champion Rib Eye K & G McAtamney Butcher & Deli have a website where you can hear all about their products and their history. When Kieran & Gordon opened their new stylish & contemporary premises on Greenvale St, Ballymena in 2000 they brought with them a wealth of knowledge going back as far as 1953. Kieran’s grandfather opened a butcher’s shop in Kilrea, Co. Derry and Kieran gained his early experience in that business. Having passed on his wisdom to Gordon, with this expertise under their belts they have set out to create a new concept offering everything you need for a gourmet meal, freshly prepared onsite by qualified chefs. The store has a deli counter offering a variety of fresh sandwiches and lunches and you can also buy prepackaged meals featuring their meat products. The Sound of Music at Ballymena Cinema

Ballymena Cinema will be showing “The Sound of Music” on Tuesday 31st March. They say; Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the most beloved family film of all time! Rodgers & Hammerstein’s cinematic treasure and Winner of five ACADEMY AWARDS®, including Best Picture*,stars Julie Andrews as Maria, the warmhearted young woman who leaves the convent to bring joy and music to Captain von Trapp (Christopher Plummer) and his children. Experience this magnificent movie musical filled with unforgettable songs, including “Do-Re-Mi,” “My Favourite Things” and “The Sound of Music”. So for today’s throwback Thursday we are heading back to it’s release 50 years ago to enjoy this little number.
