Ballymena Road Club have organised the Billy Kerr Sportive this Saturday, 16th August. Starting at the Showgrounds carpark in Ballymena the sportive has three different routes which will cover 67km, 115km and 150km. Each route will follow the North Antrim Coast. Route maps are available at Ballymena Road Club website.

The event is in memory of Ballymena Road Club member and cycling legend Billy Kerr. Billy competed throughout Northern Ireland and attended the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton in 1978 and Brisbane in 1982 and the Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980. The special guest at the Billy Kerr Sportive is Sean Kelly who will be riding the course as well as being available at the start and finish locations.

Price – £30 which includes donation to the NI Children’s Hospice and each cyclist who enters will receive:

  • Free entry into a prize draw for a Vitus Razor road bike (for pre-registered entrants only)
  • Free goodie bag with nutrition, buff, multi-tool, bottle and tube
  • Free attendance to pre-sign on event on the Friday evening 15 Aug with Sean Kelly
  • A chance to cycle with the famous professional cyclist and commentator Sean Kelly
  • Food and refreshments will be provided along the route and finish
