Dalriada Kingdom Tours is a family owned business which offers guided walking tours in several locations along the North Coast. Giant’s Causeway, Dunluce Castle, Rathlin Island and Coleraine Historic Tour are just a few of the places where they take place. All of them are just a short car, train or bus journey from Ballymena.

You have probably visited these places, maybe many times, but going on a Dalriada Kingdom Tours guided walk really brings these places to life. You will find out about the history of the area, the wildlife and the people who did live or still live there and much more.

Mark and Rosemary Rodgers founded Dalriada Kingdom Tours in 2016. Mark is carrying on a long family tradition by being the third generation to guide along the Causeway Coast. I met with Mark to find out more after spending a very enjoyable day with him on a walking tour of Rathlin.

So Mark, for those making the trip to the coast to go on one of your walking tours, what can they expect?

“We are from the Causeway Coast ourselves so we use the wealth of local knowledge we have, together with what other local families and friends have told us, to give every walker an informative and interesting tour. Whether its myself or one of our other trained and qualified guides, you will come away knowing a lot more about the history, nature, people, traditions and folklore of the area.

Why do the puffins come to Rathlin Island rather than the mainland? What influence did the Vikings have in this part of the world? How did the McQuillan’s and the McDonnell’s of Antrim shape and form the County Antrim we know today? These are just a few of the many questions we’ll answer on our various tours. We would love to see you join us for a tour. They’re not too strenuous, we go at a leisurely pace and they are relaxed, good fun and I’m sure you’ll learn something new”
