Turning Point NI is a place where people can get help, talk and be supported through this very difficult time. Next week they have several event planned which we wanted to share here. Ballymena Runners have been inspiring us all year long to get out and get moving. They do a great job encouraging new runners with their Couch to 5K programme, organising the weekly Park Run at the Ecos Centre and we love following their many successes. They do indeed ‘run the town’! Ballymena Runners are taking entires for the Race over the Glens race which will be held on Friday 1st January. The 6 Mile race is off road and perfect for any runners who have over indulged at Christmastime or anyone who wants to start the new year wth a bang! SOAK wins Northern Ireland Music Award

Ballymena Today favourite SOAK has picked up the Northern Ireland Music award for her album Before We Forgot How To Dream. Read out blog post about SOAK here. Stuart Bailie, chief executive of the Oh Yeah Music Centre, said: “There were many great records on the shortlist this year, but we’re delighted that Soak was the winner.”It’s a remarkable statement and a milestone for Northern Ireland music. The Sound of Belfast programme has once again shown so much amazing potential from our music makers and Soak is one of the artists that will take us into the future.” (Source) SOAK, who is from Londonderry, is going from strength to strength with a Mercury Music Prize nomination too.
