Last week we at Ballymena Today retweeted an advert asking Ballymena people to apply for popular television programme Come Dine with Me. So the combination of our favourite town and one of our favourite tv shows is very tempting, but our cooking skills might not be up to scratch – so instead of applying we have created our fantasy menu which we would make if we were on Come Dine with Me. The Pentagon Ballymena – Throwback Thursday

The Pentagon is a busy pace in Ballymena and in this weeks throwback Thursday we can see that not much has changes – now it is all busses and cars, back then it was all horses! This photograph was taken on a particularly wet day and we recognise the building in the background as the current Ballymena headquarters for Women’s Aid – The Naomi Centre. The features have been retained and the building was refurbished a few years ago to give the Women’s Aid team a building which they could use to help those who have experienced or are living with domestic violence and abuse. Two local Ballymena businesses worked on the refurbishment project, Park Design Associates provided architectural drawings for the work and Wilson and Mawhinney carried out the work onsite. Sustainable food from Broughgammon Farm

Broughgammon Farm is located outside Ballycastle a few miles from Ballymena. We, at Ballymena Today, have mentioned them many times before as they have sold their tasty produce at both Raceview Mill Market and Antrim Castle Gardens. The family run business offers the finest produce from the farm including veal and goat. If you have ever had the chance to sample some of their burgers or food at a food fair or even then you will know that Broughgammon meats are exceptionally tasty. If you haven’t sampled anything yet then see them at St.Georges Market every Sunday. The Cole family has had an active role in farming and agriculture in the Bushmills area since the late 1700’s. However, Broughgammon Farm was established in 2004 when Robin and his wife, Millie, returned from a career abroad to live “The Good Life’. Since then each member of the family has had their own unique impact on the business, which is now headed by Charlie and Sandy.
