Field and Farm by Jacqué McNeill

The Braid Theatre Club Gallery hosts an exhibition by local artist Jacqué McNeill B.Des. throughout September. Here are a few fun facts from Jacqué’s website to help you get to know the artist a little bit better! I love to sketch my surroundings outdoors and then work from the sketches to produce the finished painting, especially capturing light on the subject I love my animals on my small holding and they are my favourite subject to paint. I have a passion for gardening and draw great satisfaction from growing vegetables in my vegetable plot A favourite pastime is cooking with my own produce, including some delicious homemade chutneys and jam. My artistic endeavours go beyond painting as I am also an accomplished photographer I have also moved forward with the digital age and have taught digital photography over the past ten years, teaching people of all ages as well as developing some work of my own. Rab the Raccoon – Keep on the Look out

Rab the raccoon is still on the loose in Ballymena. Raccoons aren’t native to Northern Ireland but it is reported that Rab has escaped from local a pet shop and has been spotted on Linenhall Street, at the People’s Park and feasting on scraps of food from bins. Recently he was spotted on a local building site where he had managed to creep inside a cavity wall. Urban Raccoons love places like hollows in old garden trees, cottages, garages, abandoned houses, and attics. Rab is not thought to be a danger to people, but raccoons are listed in the Dangerous Wild Animal (NI) Order 2004. This means that it is the legal duty of the police to assist in returning Rab to his wife, Rita, and their four kits (young raccoons) at Jungle World. If you have spotted Rab the Raccoon then please contact police on the non emergency number 101. Do not try to approach or capture him, but wait until the police arrive to help. Seven Towers Netball Club – Ballymena

Ballymena based Seven Towers Netball Club are looking for new players! The netball club which meets weekly in St Patricks College have a juniour and a senior team and would love to see new members coming along. Maybe you played a school years ago, maybe you know you aren’t as fit as you’d like to be, or you just love a good competition – Seven Towers Netball Club wants you.
