Man Booker Prize 2014 Shortlist – Ballymena Book Club

Ballymena Book club are currently reading “We are all completely beside ourselves” by Karen Joy Fowler which has also made it onto the Man Booker Prize 2014 Shortlist. The well-rounded and fairly international shortlist includes previous winner in Howard Jacobson and a previously shortlisted author with Ali Smith. The list for the first time includes American authors – Joshua Ferris and Karen Joy Fowler, and is completed by literary books from Richard Flanagan and Neel Mukherjee. We don’t think we will read them all before the winner is announced but Ballymena Book Club have enjoyed Karen Joy Fowler’s novel and are looking forward to discussing it at their next meeting on 1st October at 7.00pm. Well done to Antrim, Gracehill and Ahoghill who all won a mention in the results of the Translink Ulster in Bloom Competition. The 2014 Translink Ulster in Bloom Competition category winners are: City – Derry City Large Town – Antrim Town – Larne Small Town – Ahoghill Large Village – Hillsborough Village – Glenarm Small Village – Scarva The ‘Most Improved’ title went jointly to Gracehill and Limavady. American Wrestling Roadshow visits Ballymena

American Wrestling is a show which is family friendly and a non-violent day out for the entire family. WWE superstars will be appearing together at the Braid Arts Centre in Ballymena on Friday 26th September and is a must for anyone who grew up watching WWF wrestling every Saturday afternoon.
