Ballymena celebrates art and artists in lots of unexpected places. Last week the Ballymena Central Library launched an art exhibition by Madeline Herbison.

Madeline paints in acrylics and we love her use of bright and beautiful colours. Originally from Hampshire, she has lived in London and Cornwall before moving to a farm in Ballymena. She recently took up painting and is a regular visitor to Ballymena Library where she is a member of the Time Out reading group and the VIP group for people who are visually impaired. A local artist can often be found painting at the Church Street Craft market. Jacque McNeill recently posted this picture on Facebook of a work in progress.

And . . . .

If that has inspired you to have a go at painting then a great place to start is with Louise Lester who runs Enjoy Painting classes. No prior skill is necessary and all the paint and materials are supplied, meaning that you don’t have invest in lots of money into your new hobby before you have tried it out. Louise runs 1 day workshops, community classes and group classes. Click here to find out more about learning to paint in an enjoyable and fun atmosphere with Louise Lester.
