Gig ‘n the Bann 2014 is back this year again in Portglenone, outside Ballymena from 11th – 14th September. This will be the 15th Gig ‘n the Bann and the organisers have put together another fantastic programme of events. Song, music, dance, art, even a fun run, there’s lots going on!
Ballymena Today is all about community and connecting communities , so why not take a trip to Portglenone and support this fantastic cross-cultural Festival. Just to give you a flavour of what’s on, here’s a few events we’ve picked from the programme.
Thursday 11th September – Run ‘n the Bann, a 5k fun run, or you can choose to walk! Register at 1st Portglenone Presbyterian Church Hall – Adm £6 which will go to support the work of the Community Rescue Service. Time from 6.00 -6.45pm.
If you’re a music fan there’s lots of events happening which you can enjoy including concerts in the Riverside Suite in the Wild Duck on Friday, Saturday & Sunday nights. Artists include De Danann, Niamh McGlinchey, We Banjo 3 and lots of others. Also accoustic sessions on Saturday in the local cafes – 3 Sixteen Coffee Shop & the Rose Cafe. There’s a free Family Fun Day on Saturday 13th from 2pm – 5pm at the Playing Fields, Townhill Road & also from 1pm – 5pm there’s Pipe ‘n the Bann in the middle of the village for all you pipe and drum enthusiasts.
The Gig ‘n the Bann 2014 winds up on Sunday evening with Praise ‘n the Bann, where local churches come together to lead worship in the Bank Square , and finally a concert in the Wild Duck with The Fureys – Doors 7.30 Adm £15
