A hugely successful charity event would describe Ballymena Runners 5k at Ballymena Academy which raised over £600 for McMillan Cancer Care Charity. The charity event saw 120 people running in the grounds of Ballymena Academy. The runners included many long time club members but Ballymena Runners were also delighted to see a good turn out of recent graduates of their Cosy Sofa programme. The Cosy Sofa programme began at the start of the year to encourage the participants to get off their sofas and after several weeks of training, be able to complete a 5k run by the end of the programme! The club hopes that for those who took part in the Ballymena Runners 5k at Ballymena Academy, it will have given them the bug to continue running and get involved in future running events.
