Culture Night Ballymena

Yesterday we blogged about Culture Night Belfast and how it had got our Ballymena Today team thinking… Culture Night Ballymena doesn’t exist just yet. We aren’t completely sure how our conversations and ideas will evolve but when we do know something we will make a loud noise. In a nutshell we would love to see Culture Night take over the streets of Ballymena but, we have lots to discuss first. We don’t even know if it’s possible… Here’s what we do know… Ballymena is small compared to Belfast. This would obviously be reflected in the development of Culture Night Ballymena. Belfast should always be bigger, better and more varied, it is our capital city here in Northern Ireland and we love how Belfast has been evolving in recent years. Culture is made there… But what about Culture Night Ballymena? Ballymena has a rich cultural diversity that stretches across businesses, organisations and community groups. Here on Ballymena Today we regularly highlight a broad range of what goes on around our town. As we have evolved here at Ballymena Today we have often been super excited and encouraged by the eclectic mix of community and culture in our town. As we said above; We would love to see Culture Night take over the streets of Ballymena but, we have lots to discuss first. We don’t even know if it’s possible… We...

Speciality Coffee Shop opening in Ballymena

The Ballymena Today team love great coffee and we are really excited about the opening of Middletown Coffee Co. Another coffee shop? That’s what we expect your reaction to be if Middletown Coffee Co. is news to you and, we certainly can’t argue that Ballymena has experienced a few new coffee shops in recent months. Coffee is on trend. A speciality coffee shop opening in Ballymena is different to a coffee shop opening in Ballymena. But, first, here’s what Middletown say… We love coffee, our hometown of Ballymena and people. We want to see a buzzing community of people who get as excited about coffee as we do. That’s why we are opening Middletown Coffee Co. Coffee isn’t just a hot beverage though More and more people here in Northern Ireland are interested by what that means. The Speciality Coffee Association of America says; Speciality Coffee refers to the highest quality green coffee beans roasted to their greatest flavour potential by true craftspeople and then properly brewed to well-established SCAA developed standards. Origin, chain of supply, roasting, brewing and consumption are all steps in a quality process that is vitally important and people working in speciality coffee highlight these factors with their dedication to the craft. Learning and excelling in the speciality coffee industry is at the heart of the Middletown Coffee Co. ethos. This is what sets their...

Sip a coffee related app

We love it when we see an app idea that is functional, useful and looks great. Too many apps don’t do any of these things and fall flat on their face. I’ve been Beta testing a new coffee-related app for a few days now and thought I’d share the original post we wrote on Coffee NI here with you on Ballymena Today. In the past 18 months we have been told by quite a few people that we should build an app. A coffee related app… Our question is always along the lines of; ‘And what would that app do?’...
