We’re looking forward to this new documentary, A Carryin’ Stream, which will be aired on BBC2NI on Sunday 15th September 2019 at 9:45pm.

Alison Millar, an award-winning film maker, returns to her roots and visits many of the places from her childhood days in Cullybackey.

Alison goes back in time to visit Tullygrawley National School which her father attended as a child. It was so typical of many country schools having just two small classrooms, however she meets some of the school’s past pupils who recall the visionary teaching carried out there by Master RL Russell. He encouraged many of his pupils to produce art and literature to a high level. The school is long since closed as you can see from the photo below but we’re sure there will be some reading this who will have memories of it when it was open.

She also visits Buick Memorial Primary School in Cullybackey where Alison went as a child. As well as the school visits she also remembers some of the people and places around Cullybackey who have been inspirational in her persuing a career in film making.

This should be a great watch! – BBC2NI on Sunday coming (15th Sept) at 9:45pm.
